Ok our landlord owns few houses and last year we used to live in one of his apartments and he had a better apartment for us at a different house few blocks away. so we moved but he never gave us a new lease. I been paying him rent and because he is from the same counrty and from same church I dont take a reciept for the rent payment. I haveent been paying rent for last 2 month due to financial problem. now he is taking me to court. I contacted the homlessenes prevention office and they told me to come in with your lease, reciept for the rent and other papers. But when I asked him to give me the lease for this apartment he said no, and when I asked him to give me reciepts for the payments I made he said no He is not giving me anything.

What should I do ? The homelessness prevention office said not to come until I have all the papers ready.

You should never pay rent and not get a receipt. Even if written on a scrap piece of paper insist on it. You owe rent for two months and I don't see why past paid rent is even relevant, but I guess they have their reasons. Find another agency to help you. Either way, you will be evicted soon for past due rent.
