My name is Nicole and i live in the state of Illinois.

my question is, can i move out at seventeen (turning eighteen in two months) without parent's consent?

please dont tell me to wait it out, or try the whole emancipation for mature minors act.

the emancipation process would take too long and by the time it got through the court system i'll be eighteen.

So, the only answer you're prepared to accept is the one you want?

Sorry, kiddo, but the answer is no, you can't. Your option is to wait it out or get your parents' permission.

I will obey your other rule and not suggest emancipation, since you have posted nothing to suggest that you'd be eligible for it in any case.

You can absolutely move out - no problems at all..... in 2 months. Until then, no.

That is entirely up to your parents. Legally, you are under their care and control until you are 18 and not one minute less. If they CHOOSE to, they can let you go now. Or, alternately, they can call the police, have you picked up as a runaway and have your little tush dragged back home. Or possibly thrown in juvie, if you are a repeat offender. Or maybe even if you aren't.

I say they should let you go. When you find out that being a grown up isn't all fluff and bunnies... they also shouldn't let you come back. No matter what you're going through.
