What is the name of your state? CA

Hello. My name is Anthony and I currently live in California. I have primary custody of my son.

We will be moving to Oregon very soon and I had a couple questions. My sons mother lives in CT. Because of this I have in my court order that she can not take him out of the state of CA. Do I need to do something with the courts because of my move to Oregon, and will this cause me to be unprotected from my ex-wife. (Just to add she rarely contacts my son, i keep a log of all her call and visits. and she also pays me no child support. Which I have not gone after so far.) I just want to make sure I keep my family protected for this move to a new state. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Anthony

Because she was telling her family members that she thought about taking off with him when she moved out of state. There is alot of background you may not know but none of that has any bearing on my question. It is in fact very hard for me to hold back all the slander. Lets just say some people choose drugs over a child. At least one of his parents care for him and that is something I do very well.

Thanks,

Anthony

No details aren't necessary - I just found it unusual w/o any other info. You shouldn't really have any problem. You'd likely want to domesticate the order in Oregon. It will hold the same weight as it does now. Best of luck with your move.

Thanks for your help. I will do that as soon as I can. We are moving this sunday and just wanted to make sure there was nothing I needed to file on this end until we get set up in our new house.

Thank you!

Anthony

You might want to check in CA, but I don't think you'd have a problem since Mom lives across the country anyway.

I am almost positive in CA that you must inform the court of your intention to move the child outside the jurisdiction of the state. The court should be informed of the location of children currently included within their court orders.

You should consider speaking to a local attorney.
