What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Michigan.
I just found out today that I got a new job. My wife and I have been struggling for the last year. She's been out of work since August 2012 and when she was working it was only part time. I am self employed and have not had many gigs. I have been looking for alternate work. I finally found a job. The job. The one that will get us back on out feet.
But it's across the state. About 140 miles from where I live now. If I don't take this job, we will be losing out home in a matter of months.
My dilemma is this: I have fought tooth and nail for visitation time with my son. I finally got EOWE and split holidays. I have NO custody. Nothing. Zilch. Just visitation.
Living in the new town and what my work schedule will be I CAN still go by the same schedule I have now. I will be able to afford the travel expenses. I pick my son up at 6 on Fridays. We would be in the car for about 2.5 hours and be home by 8:30/9:00. And some weekends we may decide to shack up at my family's houses or get a hotel so that we can visit my family regularly.
My question is, since I do not have any legal custody, do I need permission from the Friend of the Court to be able to move passed a certain distance?
If so, what do I need to file? I don't want to change the court order.
