What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ky. I am having trouble with my insurance co wanting to salvage my personal property instead of replacement cost . Most of my loss is sevier smoke damage and I have a medical problem with allergies and asthma. Can the insurance co do that?

unless something in your policy doesn't allow it, yes. If they can adequately clean your property, there is no reason to replace anything.
