 What is the name of your state? GeorgiaDeath with life insurance policy beneficiary being changed two weeks prior to entering hospital. Gentlemen changed insuror from his son to a roommate who he had lived with only 90 days. The roommate has used his debit card on the day of his death, after his death, without being authorized, as well as wrote herself checks, with possible forged signatures from his account the day prior to his death, when he happened to be comatose for the majority of the day. The roommate commented to others he, deceased, had signed over the life insurance policy to her as a gift. She had told him the son may not be available for burial arrangements as he was difficult to get in touch with. The insruance company has cut the check and mailed to the roomate. The family feels the signing of the beneficiary was under duress, and possibly even forged as the deceased had contacted his son when the roomate had approached him regarding this information. The deceased moved in with roommate (church friend) to save monies on living expenses; however, revealing of bank statement offers that all monies were spent plus upon death by roommate, i.e., car repairs, telephone, etc. Does the family have any recourse?
