Oklahoma - Is there anything that can be done when a current city administration fails to honor (enforce) agreements/conditions approved by a previous administration (city council). Amendments/conditions precipitated when a developer wanted to build immediately next to my neighborhood. Amendments/conditions were hard won by our neighborhood during many meetings with city officials at the time. As a result, the previous council voted and approved certain conditions be included in the final plat, before filing with the county. No one apparently noticed the omissions by the city engineer.
These conditions were initially met by the original developer and the city in both word and deed. Our neighborhood has much documentation to back up our assertions.
A few years later a criminal theft , occurred which was never seriously investigated by the city and no one was ever charged. This event uncovered the fact that the city engineer, at the time, failed to incorporate the wishes agreed and approved by the city council at the time.
The current city administration, or city engineer who initially made the omissions, does not acknowledge any problem and has totally ignored us. Those of us whom live in the older neighborhood have had a sudden influx of traffic generated by the new subdivision and have had dramatic changes in our quality of life and safety as a result of the city NOT enforcing it's responsibilities. Normally this could have been easily resolved. It is unclear why the city has aired on the side of the developer.
