i'm looking to record a piece by using a sample of music from one song by an artist & recording my voice reading lyrics to another song by another artist. what are my responsibilities concerning copyright?

Coyright on music

The music you will be sampling has a copyright; therefore, you will be violating the copyright. You will also be violating the copyright on the lyrics. The way around this is to get permission from the artists or whoever owns the copyrights.
