What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California. Got a summons for jury duty. Put down financial hardship and it came back asking if employer pays;it does but a small fraction of what I make. Can I ignore the letter since it was not registered? Can fines only be imposed if you accept a CERTIFIED letter?

Short answer: No - don't ignore it.

I disagree. The OP can choose to ignore the letter if the OP chooses to do so. However, when a warrant is issued and sanctions are imposed, then the OP shouldn't be surprised or complain.

Nope.

There is generally a presumption of valid seervice for such things when dropped into the regular US Mail.
