oklahoma, i am a young gay woman who purchased a home 3 years ago with my partner. to get the first time homebuyers loan, the financing is totally in my name. a year after purchasing the home, my partner wanted me to add her name to the deed (which I did legally). now we are spliting, she wants the house. fine, but her name is not on the mortgage. i realize that i can obtain a quitclaim deed to get myself off, but my name is still on the financing! my partner was married to a man several years ago, and purchased a home w/ him. once she divorced, she signed over the house to him, but she's still on mortgage so he wouldn't have to refinance. she wants me to do a similar thing with her. this does not sound right! i don't want to sign over my deed to her with my name still on the mortgage. suggestions?
