What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? California

I giving you an example this is not my invention. Example , Lets say my invention is an exterior panel dressing- that goes on the exterior sides of the housing of an operative object. In order to protect this so that no one else can make the same thing .

What I'm finding out is that this is a 2 claim's invention.

1) Ornamentaly because its apperance to be looked at.

2)It is a series of exterior panels.

3) Can I file a multiple claims invention of this type?.

Obviously number 1 is an Ornamental patent application. But would number 2 be a Utilty patent application?.

And if so can both be filed together since if a proto type were to be made it should work for both claims?.

Also would it be necessary to build a proto type?
