i live in kansas, my father is taking me to small claims court for $1,700 that he used to repair my car. i did not ask him to fix it or pay to have it fixed. he simply stated that i can pay him back later. i didnt ask for his help and there was no written or verbal agreement.

My response:

You will lose. You had a choice to have the car repaired with your father's money, and you chose to do so. You could have said, "Dad, stop it - - I don't want or need your money." But, you did.

The repairs benefited you and your vehicle, and but for the repairs being paid by your father, your vehicle would just be sitting - - wouldn't it ?

Now would be a good time to pay your father so that his judgment won't appear on your credit report - - because if it does, don't plan on getting credit from anyone else for years to come.
