What is the name of your state? (new york state):

My friend had a work visa that lasted as long as she was in school, but now she has graduated she cannot work. Can she get unemployment? probably not, right? any ideas for her? she's now in housing court about to be evicted. what to do.

It sounds like it's time for her to go back to her home country. She has completed the purpose of her VISIT to the US.

Awwwe. not nice. I am just asking to see what she can do. :p

How crowded and liveable do you think the US would be if the immigration laws were "nice" to everyone?
There are laws that have to be obeyed by for this or any country to thrive. That's life. Many bona fide legal immigrant are forced through years of waiting in limbo and being disected and intruded by the embassies abroad because of people who violate their visas.
Karma always comes back to get you, that's something wise to remember when messing with the law.

wow. and Karma and law have nothing to do w/ each other.
You're the one with a criminal friend and getting pissed off because there is no way for her to bypass the LAWS, so it really makes no difference in my life what you believe. I'm not the one who made bad choices and demands to get away with it.

Good luck to you

That was the point of my reply: there IS nothing she can do.

Since she doesn't have anywhere to live, or a way to have legal status in the US, she has to leave or live here as an illegal. If she wants to ever have a chance to come to the US again, leaving sooner, than later, is in her best interests.

aw drat. She graduated 66 days ago, BUT it turns out she did try to get it, she had a problem for some reason or another, but at least she tried that option. I wish her boyfriend of 3 years would marry her already. She's like weeks away from having to leave, she is such a great person, and his committment issues run pretty deep i guess. Sigh, we'll see.

Thanks for your help, appreciate it.
