Hello,

I have a question.... do internet website such as (mylife.com) have the right to have my personal information. For example, a friend search my name on mylife.com and found my full name, my family members name.... and city/state i live in plus how old I am. Ooh yes, if you sign up for premium account, you can get my full address and run a background check?

DO these internet site have the right to do that, sell information in this way, without the other persons knowledge.???

Yep.

Information they obtained lawfully can often be re-distributed even for a fee. Most of the information they have come from public records, and some might come from records that are sold through companies you have done business with and may have inadvertently signed a release permitting them to do so.

Pretty much nothing about you is private aside from medical records. It's frightening. Anyone can order your birth certificate, and there are even legal ways to obtain your social security number.

Your life is out there for whomever is interested in finding it.

One of my hobbies is being a "search angel" for adoptees. With just a little bit of info, most people are locateable.

Some states, like Florida, have only recently started redacting information like SSN's. When I found my own birthfamily (who live in FL) they were shocked at all the info I had.
