Due to a legal battle over property, my lawyer that we hired, now wants more money paid to him. This case was finished in May, and we now have received an extra bill. We had understood this had been paid in full.
This man cost us thousands due to his incompetence, actually it was a lawyer who worked for his firm, which is a looooong story. Oddly enough, we found out he left the firm as soon as our case was finished, only days later!
I am on SSDI, I own nothing in my name, our home is in DH's name. This lawyer was hired by myself and a brother, DH was not in on it, as the property was in my name and brother only, which we sold and paid out to debts caused by this.
His actions also helped cause my brother to bankrupt himself, so now he has nothing as well.
Can he legally take anything from me if I refuse to pay him? Are there any other implications involved if I do refuse?
I also plan to ask for an arbitration hearing on this if it goes further and see what happens with that. I figure I can at least cost him some of his time, and cause him some aggravation.
Thanks
