What is the name of your state?Ohio

My little cousin (15) a few weeks back was found in a bush passed out. He was in critical care for two days because of some kind of alcohol poisoning. He's fine now, but come to find out he and his teenagefriends had been drinking all that day and left him in the bush.

Immediately outrage came from the parents of our small town. An investigation was started to find who supplied the minors, and many fingers pointed. Then someone had the balls to accuse my mother. I found out that it was two old friends of mine, no longer my friends because they're morally and intellectually handicapped (politically speaking).

My mother was a very talented and popular bartender at a local bar. She's a very kind, humble, and good person. Unfortunately she was fired because of these accusations. A few days before she was fired, the real culprit was found, one of my ex-friends mother's. What really made me upset was that she didn't supply the kids, which is known by the Police whom also told my mother's boss this. Not to mention that the liquor cabinet is locked even to the bartenders at night, and my mother wasn't even working the night she, supposedly sold the kids liquor. My mother was fired for the good of the business, DAYS AFTER the truth came out.

Is their anything we can do to right this moral wrong, whether to the bar or to those who caused the slander.

Definately she has a case re; her termination of employment...IF...the boss stated in writing or is willing to state in court it was based on the "story" of supplying alcohol to minors.

The problem is: Will the boss admit it- or will the boss say it was for whatever other reason? And, can you PROVE who said what to whom re; your mother?

Can she afford an attorney? This could turn into a case of "He Said, She Said" and I believe a competent attorney would be necessary to try to turn this case around.

In the meantime, make sure your mother gathers all the documents from police which state she was found NOT to be the adult who supplied the alcohol & whether any charges were brought against the truly guilty person.

Actually, casa, that's not correct. A wrongful termination does not mean, I was fired for something I did not do. It means that a specific law prohibits an employer from firing an employee for the reason they did.

Unless you can point to a specific law that says, an employee cannot be fired for supplying alcohol to minors unless the employer has proof positive that she did so, firing her was not a violation of any law. Unfair, yes. Illegal, no.
