What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NEW YORK
my citi card was charged 200 unauthorized. i called those merchant, and they told me the recipient was my roomate/landlord and the add was here. and its signed by her name. and last month it was my chase card charged around 500 bucks. all those transactions were made on line. and when i talked to her about this, she just denied and played cool and that's it. two days later, she waked me up in the morning at my door. her eyes red and swollen. she said it was her friend. a guy who she said she gave her key to pick up his stuffs in our apartment sometimes. and also this one "i'm pretty pissed off by him too".
but before that, there's something interesting. let's say, i found the stuffs she bought right in her room, like the blackberry recharger. and the exactly same Report shoes on the merchant list, size 8.5, her size btw, were in the room the day before, and disappeared the next day, of course not any more now.
so she said she's trying to get my money back from him but the guy's short of penny obviously. and also she claimed she doesn't wanna lose my trust or jeopardize our relationship. o, o, BTW, she now got the key for me, after 15 mo living here, i finally got the key to my room! which means, whoever could just open the door at that time and get into my room that easy!
i went to the police and they told me they could arrest her right away if i want to; but i'd better move out first before i do so. so before moving out i am still living here.
yesterday she handed me an envelop of 200 bucks, but i did not accept it. i said until the guy got the full amount.
my question is, i already got my bank cards refunded by the banks. will that be illegal if i accept the money she give me?
but on the other side, i really don't wanna let it go. at least she deserves something serious. so what u guys suggest? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
