I currently live in Springfield, MO.

My roommate stole a blank check from me, made it out to herself, signed my name, and cashed it in the amount of $375. The bank has her on video, the police report has been filed, and she is now fully aware that she's in some big trouble.

I need to talk to my landlord soon about this whole situation. He knows that someone committed check fraud against me; however, he does not know it is my roommate. We have a single lease with both of our signatures on it. What I need to know is...what are my rights in this situation regarding rent? I cannot afford it by myself, and it will take me a while to find a new roommate. Will my roommate still be responsible for her part of the rent? How do things usually progress in this type of situation?

Thank you,
Laura

**A: in this case, you need to pay the entire rent.
