I go to college in Virginia. My roommate who has always smiled in my face posted some false information about me on the web. And she has also told our hallmates things about me and now some of them do not even acknowledge me anymore. Is there anything that I can do about this?

Yes, you can sue her for defamation.

Set aside about $10 to $12K for lawyer's fees and stuff and also about three years' worth of time.

And don't expect to win.

(You haven't even said you were damaged, so I'd say you had a weak case.)

Thank you for your reply. I didnt know I had to go into detail about it on here. If what was posted didnt hurt me and my reputation then I would not have even taken the time to ask what could be done. I just wanted to know what I can do about it and about how much it would cost.

If your roomy is a sneaky witch, be one back then.

You're not gonna legally get very far....... this is how college students are.

So she said some sh---y things about you- -- you're just either going to have to hold your head high and be better and rise up above this
or work towards proving you're not like she says you are ( are these folks worth it??)
or do it back to her..... in which case you're stooping to her low level
