What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

About a month ago I changed my address at school but they keep sending things to the wrong address. A lot of it is personal and confidential. Not only am I not receiving letters when I need them, but my dad keeps opening everything and holding it against me. I know what he's doing is illegal but I'm still dependent on him so I can't exactly charge him with anything unless I want to sleep on the streets.

I don't know if there's any law against what they're doing but I don't think it's right for them to knowingly send private mail to a wrong address. Is there anything I can do about it other than just talk to them? This is causing me a lot of problems like being late on payments, missing tests, the check in date and a lot of other things...not to mention being harassed by my dad about everything that comes in the mail. Some of the letters they send aren't even sealed so anyone could walk up to my mailbox and read it without me even knowing. I doubt that ever happens but they're still putting me at risk.

Sorry this is so long and sorry if this should really be in another section. I couldn't find a better place for it.

With whom at the school did you change your address? Did the cover all departments? Who is sending mail to the wrong address? You might have to change your address at various places on campus in order to make sure ALL of your mail is delivered to the proper address.

So the 'wrong' address you reference, is actually your dad's address?

And you want this mail to go to a different address like your friends house?

I live part time with my mom and part time with my dad. My mom's landlord doesn't want me staying there full time so I don't. I changed the address at the school at the only office that does address changes. I switched it to my mom's. Some things I still prefer to go to my dad's (like larger packages because it's a safer area) so I didn't put a change of address form in at the post office.

Any mail from any part of the school is going to the wrong address.

The school is doing nothing wrong quite frankly. You need to make sure that every department has your proper address.
