What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Texas

A little less than a year ago I moved to the Netherlands to study, and I visited home only once since then. I took a new name about 2 years ago for religious reasons and never went to get it officially changed.

I currently have documents for the name change, but it states i must go to court in person to have the judge make a statement on it. Is there some way I can do this from abroad? Thank you.

Nope. In addition to appearing in court, you will have to change your passport before you can leave the US again.

again

Are you certain? What about this "power of attorney"stuff? How does that work/can I do that? Sorry, I'm not very big on legal terms/ways.

Power of attorney never gives anyone the right to represent another in a court of law, it just gives someone the right to assist those unable (note: you are able) to do everyday tasks on there own. Even a licensed attorney cannot represent you in court in a matter such as this.

Even in Texas? Because there is no possible way i can afford to go back to Texas right now in the middle of school just to do a name change. But I really need it done. Can I get a second opinion?
