What is the name of your state? West Virginia

I recently got married and while filling out the paperwork to have my last name changed with social security my mother reminded me that I should go ahead and correct my middle name. (The middle name is correct on the hospital documents yet incorrect on my birth certificate and therefor subsequent legal papers. My school documents reflect my real middle name even though it is not legally correct. This includes my high school and college diplomas).

so my questions are...

Who do I see at the county courthouse?

What should I take with me?

Should I fill out the name change form (for my middle name) with my maiden or married
name?

How long will the middle name change take?

Should I go ahead and change my last name at the DMV and Social Security in the meantime and then worry about changing my middle name or do it all at once?

Sorry for all the questions i'm hopelessly confused

You waited this long to make the correct, that you will probably be required to make a change instead of a correction.

And I thought my poster was confusing! (My middle name was wrong on my sons birth certificate and rather than go to court, I am just having them remove the middle name on his birth certificate so it will just have my first and last name for mothers maiden name on his bc)..

Anyway, you should really go by the birth certificate.. How is it that your middle name is wrong on your birth certificate. How did you manage to change it on all your other paperwork without correcting your birth certificate? Just goes to show you that middle names are not paid attention to!

I would definitely make a name change in court. Call your local Civil Court to see if that is the place you can do this in your state. With the name change to your right middle name, you can fix everything else.
