What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OREGON

I want to revert to my maiden name when our divorce is finalized - I also want to change the spelling of my first name (I've spelled my name incorrectly for many years, even on credit cards, without ever legally changing it).

Would writing my full maiden name with the spelling change in our papers for 'restoring' my name void our paperwork?

Then have "So-n-So Smith" will be known as "Whatsit Jones" from henceforth (or something to that effect.) I've returned to my maiden name in divorce papers, but I've always known how to spell my first name.

Say that my married legal name was Stefani Smith. My legal maiden name was Stefani James.. and I completed my forms as:
Stefani Smith's former name of Stephanie James should be restored.

Would this cause a problem with having the papers accepted?

Poster, you want one too many name changes. Your original last name can easily be reclaimed during the divorce process, but changing your first name is another cookie.
