MISSOURI: My husband just received a letter from our medical insurance company requesting copies of the birth certificates for all the children. He has twins from a previous marriage and the original birth certificates do not have his name on them? Both the kids have his last name but his name is no where on the birth record. Why would the ex-wife leave his name off of the records? If we have paternity testing done and the kids are not his, will he have to continue to pay child support? What will the insurance company do since his name is not on the birth certificates? If he doesn't provide medical for the kids, the ex-wife can take us to court...what are some reasons that the ex would intentionally leave my husbands name off the birth records? Would she be responsible for paying for paternity tests if we have to do them? I mean she lied all this time and has been receiving State aide and child support for years now. We just found out. I would appreciate any insight you might be able to give us here. Thanks.

I can't tell you why the ex-wife did anything because I do not know her.

But I do know that the folks in Jeff are always changing the rules on birth certificates (along with everything else).

Call these folks and ask them about correcting a birth certificate:

Thank you! That's a start....

Thanks for the information. We will start there. Not sure what we are going to do about the fact that we just found out that he wasn't put on the birth certificate in the first place though? He had plenty of time to sign any kind of papers after his kids were born since they were at MU for a few weeks. We are thinking that the ex didn't have a clue as to who the father was**************

Yep, the columns are very romantic on warm spring nights.

Anyway, you may want to ask your sweetie why he didn't look at the birth certificates before now....or otherwise investigate the matter.

I don't know...I had nothing to do with THAT conception!:D
