ok, I'm back again. More questions...I just pulled up the Cumberland County, NC Property tax search page.

The tax thingie shows it is listed in his name only. Whether that means just the taxes or what I don't know. This is shown....

Sale History Data:
Deed Book Deed Page Sale Date Sale Price
06342 00018 11/13/2003 0.00
05261 00620 04/24/2000 0.00

2000 is when we purchased the house...and 2003 would have been when we went to court. I know I never signed anything. So how would this be possible? Hubby SWEARS the judge signed it over to him. I don't know...
Provide here the exact link

What ya think? Is it likely the taxes only be in his name, but house deed still in mine? Is there anyway possible they could get my name off of it without my signing? I know it doesn't seem right or possibly, but this is what hubby swears happened. I just don't see how they can do that, but not also remove my name from the mortgage. Be liable for something that doesn't belong to me?

O.K. now I have to go back and ask a few questions based on this information.

Was the home your husband's before you married?

Or did the two of you purchase it together?

O.K. Jennifer, here's what you need to do first thing monday.

First, go to the courthouse and get a copy of the divorce file, including the final disposition.

Next, go to the Cumberland County Recorder's office and ask for a copy of the deed. You already have the information needed to find it. (book and page from the link you provided.)

Then come back and we can make sense out of this.

That is the peculiar thing, because about a year ago. After my thinking I was legally divorced, I went to the courthouse. They attempted to find the last time we went to court and they claim they could find nothing. I believe we went to court in August 2003. *Sigh*

I will however go down again and see what I can find. I'm certain they couldn't find anything which doesn't make any sense. But I will do that.

Thank you again. Funny how things like this never come up until Friday (when can't do anything until Monday). :)

Jennifer,
Stupid question but is the address on the link you gave me the correct one? And are you sure it's in Cumberland County?
