What is the name of your state?
California. was it legal for my husband to removed my name from
our joint credit union account? Did the credit union have to inform me of his action?

Are you sure he removed your name, or did he terminate the joint account and open a single? I have never heard of a bank allowing a joint holder to remove the other from the title of the account.

Just a point of order Jeter. This is a Credit Union, not a bank.

Now, to the question. Who was the membership at the Credit Union under? Did you both work at the qualifying employer or was it, as I suspect, only your husband?

If it was only your husband, then yes, he can remove you from HIS account. Credit Unions are membership institutions. To be allowed membership you must work for a qualifying employer. If your husband was the only one working for this employer he could open the account and add you or anyone else to it and take them off.
