Only another nurse can understand and appreciate what we do or why we do it.
Here's to us! and, here's to those who make nursing worthwhile...
the patient who pulled out his IVs, called a taxi, and went home in his gown...
the man who presented with a severe headache and every nictotine patch he'd ever applied 'cause the directions didn't say remove the previous patch, just apply one patch daily...
the nursing student who was instructed to use a nitroglycerine tablet to relieve a medication-induced erection in a man who needed a catheter and put the little white pill right where the catheter needed to go...and to the surgeon who saw it, staggered to the nurse's station and led us in to see!

My mother-in-law has been a nurse for almost 33 years now and she has some great tales. Feel free to share some of yours and let off some steam!

ellencee, thanks for bringing this special week to our attention. I also want to thank all of the nurses at this site for not only doing the job they do everyday during their normal business hours, but also for going one step further and taking the time out of their busy lives to help here. You are all appreciated.
