What is the name of your state? Iowa

I am wondering if I the NCP have anything to say about where my ex takes my son to the eye doctor. She has never contacted me about taking him but, while talking to him last night on the phone he mentioned that he is going to the eye doctor and that he is going to get new glasses. First of all...I believe that she should at least contact me before she just goes and gets him new glasses and then sends me a bill for half of the expense. Also, should I not also have a say in where she takes him to get his glasses? My family goes somewhere affordable to get our eye exam and glasses and she seems to think that she needs to go to a privately owned eye doctor and pay double for a pair of glasses (more of a keeping up with the jones situation...that she absolutely can not afford either). Last time she bought glasses I got 2 people exams and glasses for what she paid for one! Ridiculous!! Thanks in advance!

Presumably, she takes him to an opthalmologist vs an optometrist. In other words, someone who is actually trained as an eye doctor and is aware of how to find, diagnose and treat diseases and abnormalities of the eye. Personally? I think it's very wise to take a child on some regular basis to an opthalmologist rather than just hitting the Wally World eye center. Especially a child that needs glasses.

Which is not to say that you can't get the script and get the glasses made elsewhere (which is what I do), but I would stand firm on taking my kid to a real eye doctor at least every other year, but more likely yearly. Which I do. My ex bitches about paying for it, so I pay for it myself - he can go scratch before I'll take our kids' eyesight for granted.

I would suggest this, too. Get the acript and get the glasses made where it will be cheaper. And next time you go to court, get it spelled out in the court order about parents having to agree on non emergency medical treatment.

I think that is a good idea too. Although I would like to have a say in something! She moved my kid to Minnesota and does whatever she pleases and pretty much leaves me out of everything and yet expects me to pay for half of everything. By the way....she only takes him to a regular (very expensive optometrist), I actually gave her the benefit of a doubt too and thought that maybe she was going the extra mile for his sake too but I actually talked to "her" eye doctor and found out that he could be working at "Wally World" also. He goes to the eye doctor every year and not only gets new lense but new frames too. I guess what makes me mad is that she does all this, sends me a bill and yet when I ask her to do anything for me there is absolutely no response. I am suppose to get an 8332 form signed and sent in for my taxes to be able to claim my son on my taxes, as I get to do every other year and she WILL NOT send it to me.
Thanks for your advice!!
