What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Virginia

Hello, my wife left me (19 Sept, 2011) after over 25 years of marriage and now lives in Kansas. She has left me with over $30,000 in credit card bills, a home being foreclosed (that I never wanted to buy because it was too expensive), and sadly a love for spending the hard earned money that I brought home. I just found out last night that I need to protect myself by filing a financial restraining order against her since we are now separated (and just before she left, out of the blue, she said that she wanted a divorce). What form do I need (e.g. downloaded from the Internet)? I will be filling the financial restraining order in Spotsylvania County, in VA.

Thank-you so very much!

First, please edit your post to remove your name.

When you file for divorce, there should be an automatic injunction preventing either party from significant, nonessential expenditures. However, I would also contact all your creditors and credit agencies to ask them not to allow any more credit.

I agree, but I just want to emphasize that expenditures for normal, reasonable living expenses and legal fees are considered to be acceptable.

You also don't have to cancel all credit, just joint credit to which she currently has access. Don't leave yourself without any access to credit.
