What is the name of your state? GA

I have an idea for a new invention but I do not have the technical knowledge to build a prototype. How do I go about protecting my idea? Can i protect it?

Thanks

Inventions are protected by patents. You don't necessarily have to build a prototype before patenting, as long as you can adequately describe the specific functionality of your invention.

Read more on patenting here: http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/pac/doc/general/index.html

You might also want to discuss your invention with a local patent agent or attorney who can help you with the patenting process. You can find a local attorney or agent here: http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/dcom/olia/oed/roster/index.html
