i live in michigan. my roommate and i just got our phone bill. we used to have another roommate. he left for florida. he has $330 worth of phone calls on our bill. we can't contact him. is there any legal action we can take against him? is it worth it to take legal action or should we just pay the bill?

thank you

Who's name is on the phone bill?? If yours and/or your current roomate, you need to pay the bill to protect your credit. If it is the 'ex' (no luck, huh?), then I would let him be responsible and get new phone service in your name(s).

As for chasing him.... if you find him, what good will it do? You could get a default judgment in Michigan, but unless he has seizable assets there, you sure won't undergo the legal requirements to get the judgment domesticated to Florida (can't anyway because it is default) for just a couple hundred bucks.

Pay it and chalk it up to 'another lesson learned'.
