What is the name of your state?CA
My son is 14 months old, and has been diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome. I want to start a non-profit corp., with the ultimate goal of the foundation owning a home that he will always have to live in, and other necessities (AS is a lifelong care situation).
What is the best way to set this up? I have been told that his name cannot be anywhere mentioned in the foundation, as SSD or other social services will detract from his benefits if they know he is getting a benefit from somewhere else. I'm far from wealthy, and I don't know of any way to buy a home that he can live in after I'm dead and gone that he won't get kicked out of by someone, or that gov. services won't stop in giving aid, other than to make a successful non-profit to serve education/research/grants of the disabled community.
Also, does this mean that any fundraising efforts cannot reference him directly, even as a member of the Angelman Syndrome community?
Thanks.
