need advice !!!!!

I'v got a big problem. I'm from the Netherlands, europe.
I met my fiance a couple of years ago online, decided to visit her in 2004 twice and a third time in 2005 , thats when I asked her to marry me.
Started filing for alien fiance.
Everything went fine, my fiance paid the fees, we send all the neccessary paperwork to the INS and then we were told to wait !!!
After waiting for over a year with no news at all I was sick and tired of being away from my fiance so I got on the plane to visit her again.
Ok , here's when it gets worse.
I missed my flight home and have been stuck here now for 16 months already !!!
So, I'm an illegal alien living in the US
We are still planning on getting married and I wanna stay here and build a new life.
What to do now ???
I don't wanna be illegal any longer so what are my options.

I would really appreciate some input on how to go from here

What is the current status of the paperwork filed?

16 months ago would have been approx March 2005. The earliest you could have filed in 2005 would have been January. So, you got tired of waiting for two months for the fiance visa to be approved and you entered the U.S. while a visa application was pending.

Your story sounds fishy, Herr Rob.

Please tell us the truth so we may offer the correct advice.

And that was the only flight from the US to the Netherlands in the past year????????????????

And yes, there were more flights to the Netherlands but without any financial aid what so ever its hard to obtain a ticket ( between 900 and 1200 dollar ) !!!!

So, like you see its been more like 2 years before I came back here and 3 years since we filed

After my fiance filed and paid the fees I received a bunch of paperwork that I returned to the embassy in the Netherlands.
Now when I try to contact them they still say I have to wait ?????
All I know is that it went thru in California but online I can't find my case anywhere ???
Looks like its vanished !!!

Rob, get the phonebook out and look up immigration assistance in your city.
It doesn't sound like you two can figure this out on your own.

Rob, ik ben ook een Nederlandse, ben met een Amerikaan getrouwd en woon in de VS. Heeb een greencard enzo. Je verhaal klinkt een beetje raar. Je kunt ook voor veel goedkoper een ticket krijgen en terug naar NL vliegen, snap je dat mensen hier een beetje cynisch zijn?
Wat voor formulieren precies heeft je verloofde naar de USCIS opgestuurd? En toen je naar de VS kwam voor bezoekjes, neem ik aan dat je geen visa had omdat je korter dan 90 dagen zou blijven? Wat voor kleur "kaart" heb je in het vliegtuig ingevuld en aan de Amerikaanse douane gegeven?
Zijn je ouders Nederlands? Of ben je een allochtoon die Nederlands burgerschap heeft gekregen? En je verloofde? Hoe heeft zij het Amerikaans burgerschap verkregen? Heeft misschien te maken met de vertraging. Laat het me even weten. Maat het hoort helemaal niet zo lang te duren.
Er kunnen een hoop problem optreden. De reden dat ze je NU vertellen dat je moet wachten is omdat ze weten dat je illegaal in de VS zit (je paspoort is gescand, en ze weten dat je hier nog zit) - je had toch echt de VS moeten verlaten, ik heb een gevoel dat je met wat problemen te maken krijgt. Als je de bovenstaande vragen kan beantwoorden graag, mag ook in het Engels.
