What is the name of your state? Missouri.
I recently got my divorce. The divorce took a long time. My ex is living with my half brother who's mother recently died and left him a good inheratance including money and property. My ex would not let me see my kids for 9 months and I didnt pay child support in that time cause of how she was acting I didnt want to pay her anything directly to her. Now my child support with back support is like $900/month and will be taken out of my biweekly paycheck. I know that this money is not gonna be used properly but i cant prove it. I have thought about giving up my rights cause I cant do anything about it and with the amount Im having to pay I cant afford hardly to live, let alone do anything for my children and I was awarded joint custody. My real question is, if I give up my parental rights will I still have to pay child support?

Ok, in the first place you can't give up your parental rights. No judge will allow you to do that.....even if mom agreed and mom would NEED to agree...the state wants two parents legally responsible for children.

In the second place....it was REALLY FOOLISH not to pay your child support because you didn't like the way mom was acting and because you didn't want to pay anything directly to her. All you did was did yourself into a hole that is now making your life more difficult.

All you can do now is pay the amount you are ordered to pay, and when the arrearages get caught up things will be easier for you.
