What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
I babysit a 5 year old little girl who is totally blind.
I was first hired by the Mother to babysit & she was going to pay me every 2 weeks. Well she fired me after a month of babysitting, because I was getting upset for not recieveing my pay from her.

The parents aren't married & no longer live together,so the Father keeps the child at his house & totally supports her & then she,(the child) goes over to her Mother's on the Mother's days off from her job.

The father asked if I would please stay & after he got his financial situation more stablized, then he'd start paying me every week.Well it's been 3 months & I've yet to really see anything except $20, & a few weeks later,$40 that I had borrowed from him on both occasions.

I found out that the one or both of the parents are getting SSI checks for the baby.I asked if he would find out about getting me caregiver income for babysitting.Especially since I now am babysitting fulltime days,3 days each week.I've yet to hear any of any details or gotten any answers where I could go, on my own & find out.

Is the check that they receive supposed to be for my babysitting, besides being for her living costs? Or is there someway I can go to the SSI department & fill out paperwork & get paid for taking care of her?

I appreciate any advice that I get. Or a name of which agency I need to go to.Thank you.
Cathy

My mother is disabled and I need to stay home to help care for her. Does Social Security provide benefits to a caregiver or housekeeper?

Answer
No. There is no provision in the Social Security Act to provide benefits for caregivers of the aged or disabled. However, you may want to contact your local Social Services or Welfare department to determine if there are any locally sponsored programs that might provide you with assistance. They may also be able to provide you with the names of organizations that might help.

Stop child sitting , and sue , like seniorjudge said .
