What is the name of your state? Wisconsin
I recently purchased( traded a vehicle plus $$) from a dealer and was unaware that the vehicle had a salvaged title until I called the Dept of Transportation to see why I hadn't received a title or plates for the vehicle after almost 3 months.
The dealer had received a letter from the DOT stating that the car that I purchased needed to be state inspected, the dealer NEVER contacted me I contacted them after I requested and received a copy of the same letter.
The dealer told me that they had to fix the fender and door on the car ( nothing wrong with it) and then it would be inspected. I took the car over to them and well the 1st inspection they took it to the wrong place and for the 2nd inspection 3 weeks later they cancelled the appt. They had the car for almost a month and never did anything to it. Meanwhile I had to borrow a vehicle to get back and forth to work.
The dealer has not kept in contact with me (we had to keep calling them and they didn't return our calls). Well we went over to the dealer and talked face to face, his first comment was they were not going to fix anything and that they would give me my $$ back. Then attitude changed and said they would fix but I had to pay half! Is this fair or legal??
I called the state inspector to see if they could inspect the car and they said yes , so I went and got the car. Am I responsible for paying for this or should the dealer have to pay this?
I have contacted BBB and BBB within the DOT. Any other advice would be very helpful. Thanks
