What is the name of your state? Washington State

My husband and I need help. One of our neighbors in our apartment complex has begun spreading "rumors" about my husband and I. My husband is a professional photographer and owns his own company that we run out of our home. He also takes tons of pictures of our kids and the neighborhood kids (playing with ours). We do free photo shoots for the parents in the complex. Problem is: one of our neighbor has started telling all of the other parents that my husband is a rapist/molestor of children (which is 200% NOT TRUE) and that he rapes our two children (no idea where that came from...) and that he takes nude pictures of children in bondage. Thing is he/we have NO idea where these comments came from. Now there are parents in our complex that won't allow their children to play with ours and have now contacted Child Protective Services to "report" us. My husband is a loving father and a GREAT photographer. Not only is this hurting us as a family, we are also being investigated by CPS and are dreading the police being called on us and it is hurting our photography company because when people show up for a photo session she tells them that my husband is a rapist (he has never ever raped anyone and nor would he). And all this is because of the "rumors" this woman is spreading about us. Our life is falling apart in the last very short period of time. We know that she is saying these things because she hated that since we moved in people have become friends with us and she is no longer the "most popular" in the complex.

What can we do?? I have thought about going and talking to her about this, but I am not sure what she would say that I did to her or said to her. We have to do something before she has our two small children taken away from us!!! HELP!!!

If your going to be dealing with CPS, you need and attorney now. Besides dealing with the state, he can also send a very strongly worded letter to the neighbor. The threat of a very expensive lawsuit will shut up even the most talkative Gabby Abby.

CPS could only have your two small children taken away from you if they found any thing awry. You are not telling all of the story. There are strange and jeolous people in the world, but I am having a hard time believing this Tale. People can do strange things if they feel their popularity is threatened. I have witnessed it personally, and it is not pretty. The perpetrator is usually of not a sound mind and can be seen through easily by the intelligent mind.
If your story is true, you are not losing any contact with anyone you want to know anyway.
But I still think there is more to this...
Sorry... first gut reaction. Gotta go with it..

We have recently found out that our neighbor has severe mental issues. We have called our local APS (adult protective services) in regards to teh comments that she has made against us. They told us that this is not the first time that she has made these types of comments against someone. Evidently she hears things on the news and then in her mind believes that it is one of her neighbors. Amazing enough there are evidently people out there like her. They have promised to deal with the matter. We also placed a call to CPS and they have told us that we have nothing to worry about. My husband and I have a good standing with the everyone else that we know and that they feel that we are good parents. To quote them "unless someone sees you feeding your children bleach, there is no reason for us to intervene." That is a relief. And we have begun understanding that all that believed her also should recieve mental help and that it is true that these were not neighborly people to begin with. Thank you. And we are also in the works of obtaining an attorney to help us clean up the rest of this matter. THank you
