What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Texas. I'm 16 and I currently live with my mom and 18 year old brother. Until about a month ago, my mom's much younger boyfriend also lived with us but he got into a fight with my brother (17 at the time) and 18 year old boyfriend. My mom got a protective order against her boyfriend but he still comes over to the house. I'm really scared for me and my brother's safety. My brother will be graduating from high school and will be going to college soon and I'm scared that I'm going to have to be alone with my mom's boyfriend again. I was home alone all summer with him. My mom's boyfriend has always hated us. I know I have to wait another year to get an emancipation but I was just wondering if my situation would be accepted for an emancipation. I'm smart and I know that I will be capable to live by myself. I was just wondering if I could get some advice on what to do in the mean time and what to do when the time comes that I can do to help me get an emancipation. I also was wondering what kind of situations are usually granted emancipations. One more thing, my father lives in Maryland. If I tried to get an emancipation, would I be unable to since I still have another parent somewhere else? I really don't want to move all the way to Maryland.
Thanks,
Chelsea

Chelsea, you are in a dangerous situation.

Call your dad and tell him.

If he will not help you, go to a teacher, preacher, someone you trust. Tell them what is happening.

If you don't want to do that, contact your welfare department and tell them what is happening.

Take care of yourself...you are not a "leftover"; you are a human being.
