I am doing a project for school. My question is about a homeowner who contacts a contractor ahout an estimate on an addition to his home. The contractor comes out, looks around, and then sends a letter stating that the addition can be done for $10,000 if they enter a contract by Jan. 15th. Homeowner decides to shop around, so he doesn't decide until 4pm on Jan. 14th to go with the offer above. He leaves a message on the contractor's anwering machine saying they have a deal. The next day, homeowner gets a call from the contractor saying that they did not receive the message until it was too late to begin work on time to finish by the specified date, and that the job would take longer if he still wants to go with the deal. Did they have an agreement for this job to be done? What can homeowner expect from the contractor?
