I am a masters student on Optional Practical Training. I joined a consulting firm on December 24th in Chicago. The consultant provided me training and said he will find me a job within 15th February. But he did not. Recently he asked me to sign an agreement which says "I have undergone training with him and I agree to pay the sum of $15000 if I do not work for his company for at least 12 months". I disagreed to sign the contract and left the consultancy. My cousins came and took me from there. He said he will file some case against me with his lawyer as he has the photocopies of all my documents such as ssn, passport, ead and visa if I do not sign another contract which tells I will pay him $5000 for the training and living expenditure. I offered him $2500 for the training he gave me and also the accommodation. He is threatening that he will go to the lawyer if i dont tell him by today afternoon. I am very confused. Please help me

So he wanted you to sign the agreement AFTER he provided you with the training? It's too late now. I think he's just trying to intimidate you. Personally, I'd tell him to go to hell. He doesn't have a legal leg to stand on.
