What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? michigan

I sold a 40 year old classic car on ebay and it sold for a small fraction of the retail value. I took almost 200 pictures including about 50 underneath showing every angle (it needs restored and has not ran in 18 months and I stated that in the auction, so it needs restored). I said there is rust in the front floors and frame, and that the rockers and hood, trunk were solid. The guy that bought it and had it shipped over 2000 miles is saying i committed internet fraud because there is some rust somewhere on one of the rockers (even though i showed the exact condition with many pics). My question is, am I facing any criminal action, or would he have to take me to court himself? the sale was $6000. thanks in advance for your help!

I know, since it was a 1970 model with a high book value of nearly $40k I wanted to make sure it was clearly in need of restoration. one of the doors was in primer and it was obviously rusty in areas with missing floor sections. I really feel I did my part I just want to make sure nothing will come of this. He asked me for $1500, then $895, but I feel I should pay nothing back it was a very fair deal for $6000 and it was his bid.

Then you have your answer. Stick to your guns. 200 pics is a lot for a judge to have to sift through.

or maybe I'm wrong.

im not too concerned about a civil suit because of all the disclosure, but do I have to worry about a local or federal agency coming after me regarding these circumstances? that is what he is trying to threaten.

Provided you disclosed the condition in the ad (and probably even if you didn't) he has absolutely no case. He is either an idiot or trying to scam you. Tell him to leave you alone.

The guy sound like a whiney rusty bucket buyer. Complains because the bucket has 21 rust holes instead of 20 like it was advertised. Tell the guy to pound sand.

thanks for all of your support. Answering the question of how it could be criminal, he is trying to say since I used the word "solid" and there is rust in a panel I called solid, it is fraud and therefore a crime.

I even talked to this guy on the phone and told him it needs to be fully restored and frame/floor replaced and I went so far as to say "Maybe you should not buy it or bid on it" because he was telling me he had to borrow money and his wife thought he was nuts for buying it. I tried to tell him and he convinced himself it was something he had to do.

yep, it's solid. Solid rust.:p

.

fraud can be a civil crime as well. Doesn't sound like he has anything.

tell him to do something about it or stop harassing you. I doubt you have anything to worry about and it surely is not criminal if there is anything

his wife thought he was nuts for buying it.
and that says so much.

Some buyers are amusing. I don't think you have anything to worry about. He would have to sue you in your county and if he has to borrow money from his wife to buy the car, i doubt he has the money to fly 2000 miles or higher an attorney.

Sounds to be like buyer remorse. I would tell him to stop contacting you or you'll report him for harrasement.
