i have a question regarding some music i have wrote. i have a few songs i have recorded and some songs are picked to be on a indie movie but this contract they sent me is hard to understand.

does this (contract) give this company my rights to my own song?
or just use for thier movie


PUBLICITY/PRIVACY RELEASE



For good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, I hereby grant WARLORD FILMS™, permission to use, adapt, modify, reproduce, distribute, publicly perform and display, in film, videotape or any other audiovisual form now known or later developed, the Materials specified in this release (as indicated by my initials) throughout the world, by incorporating them into one or more Works and/or advertising and promotional materials relating thereto.

I release WARLORD FILMS™, it agents, employees, licensees and assigns from any and all claims I may have now or in the future for invasion of privacy, right of publicity, copyright infringement, defamation or any other cause of action arising out of the use, reproduction, adaptation, distribution, broadcast, performance or display of the Works.



I waive any right to inspect or approve any Works that may be created containing the Materials.



I understand and agree that WARLORD FILMS™ is and shall be the exclusive owner of all right, title and interest, including copyright, in the Works, and any advertising or promotional materials containing the Materials, except as to preexisting rights in any of the Materials release hereunder.

It appears that you would be giving them the right to use or modify your music in any way they want, but it is not an exclusive license -- you retain all of the original rights to your music. You would have no rights to anything they create using the music you license to them.

I think Homeguru or JETX is a musician type -- hopefully one or the other (or both) will chime in here.
