Hi,
I am doing my M.S in computer science engineering. My GPA is under 3.0, School says that I cannot apply for OPT or CPT.My I-20 expires in May.But I joined a consultancy and they are ready to give a offer letter for me.Is there any way for me to convert my F-1 visa to H-1 visa in this short period of time?

Can anybody help me out!

You can have the company apply for your H-1B but the start date of employment can be no sooner than October 1, 2005 since that is when the new fiscal year begins and when new H-1B numbers will become available.

Why are you not able to file for OPT or CPT? Have you already used up the complete one year of CPT during your studies?

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if I may be of further assistance to you in this matter.

.

Thank you ver much for your reply
I haven't used my OPT or CPT earlier. School people say that unless good in academics I cannot get OPT it seems. They say that I have to leave to my home country and they are going to report to INS that I will not have any status after the semester ends in mid of May.Right now I don't know what to do.Can you please suggest me what I need to do to either continue my studies or go for a job with H-1.

If I want to file H-1 on my undergraduate degree do I need to go to my home country to get VISA stamping?

Thank you
