Need info on Arizona discharge paperwork?

What is the name of your state? Arizona

I received a paper from the Bankruptcy Court this afternoon stating that our discharge had been granted 10/8/04 - that's it. No schedule showing which creditors had been discharged. Is this normal procedure for AZ or should something else be coming in the mail shortly?

It should discharge all scheduled debts and anyone who filed proofs of claims. See who got paid out of the assets of the bankruptcy estate. Obviously, if someone filed an objection to discharge of particular debt which was granted, or you had debt that was not dischargeable, then it wasn't discharged.

We filed Chapter 7 so we wouldn't have had any claims. No creditors objected either.

I was just curious if we were going to receive something more than this?

I plan on starting credit repair shortly and will probably need something more detailed.

Hello... I received my discharge on 08/17/04, and receieved the same letter you did. I would contact your attorney that was representing you on this question.
You need to check your Schedule F and look at all the creditors you put down. I recently received one creditor call me after the discharge trying to collect a past debt. I refered them to my attorney, and am still waiting a response. Remember, "it is not permitted for a creditor to contact you by mail, phone, or otherwise, to file or continue a lawsuit, to attch wages or other property, or to take any other action to collect a discharged debt from the debtor." If you do get contacted by a creditor about a debt that was discharged, give them the name of your attorney, and your attorney phone number, and politely tell them they will have to contact your attorney and hang up. Make sure to follow up on this with your attorney.

So you didn't receive anything more detailed?

We filed ProSe so there's no attorney involved but I'm not worried about creditors.

I was mainly curious because we had a debt from the IRS that we included in the BK but have continued to make payments on. I was mainly wanting to find out if somehow (I know it's a long shot) this tax debt was discharged along with all of the other debt?

No, you will not receive any other paper work. All debts that you put down on your papers that can be discharged are gone.

I can see your worry about the IRS - what kind of tax debt is/was it and did you include it. How old was it ? Was it more than 3 years old ??

The IRS debt was for the 2002 tax year (I know it's not 3 yrs or older). It was for unpaid income tax due to a 1099 my DH received.

I'm really not overly concerned since we have continued to make payments all through the bankruptcy. It just would have been nice :D
