What is the name of your state? Texas
I work as a maintenance supervisor in a apartment complex. They moved a woman above me because she was "supposed “ to have a stalker. I told them I would try to watch out for her and then pretty much forgot about it. About a week after she moved in she came knocking on my door at about midnight acting scared and kept saying “ he is back”. I let her in and tried to calm her down. After about a hour I took her back up to her apartment and got her calmed down enough to sleep and I dozed on her couch till daylight and left to go to work. That weekend I bought her some pepper spray and a wireless intercom so she could call for help if she needed it. The next week she had a flat tire and asked me to take her to her job during my lunch. Which I did.
Last Sunday her father barged into my apartment with the intercom and informed me he was not comfortable with the attention I was giving his daughter. Being nicked off I just told him fine I was just trying to make her feel safe and I would not have anything more to do with her. Since that time all I said was good morning when we passed on the stairs.
Now I find out both her and her father are going to my manager and saying she does not feel safe with me living below her and I am stalking her. This is threatening my job and home. The manager is saying they may want me to move to prevent problems.
I do not see why I should go to the expense and trouble of having to move when I have not done either anything wrong or illegal. Also do I have any legal recourse to stop them from causing problems that can not only cause me my job but my home? I have no intention of having anything to do with this obviously disturbed woman. I seem to be being accused of the same thing her last stalker was.
Thanks

sheesh

I wonder if there even was a stalker. I don't know if your job is safe there, buddy. There are some good Human resource people on these who would know if you are what they call an "at will" employee. They may say that you can be let go for any reason, and that would be the bad news.
This is an unfortunate situation if what you are saying (your side) is the truth.

I don't what to suggest sorry, but this might bump you up to someone who does know.

Maybe let your boss know a bit about the fact that anyone (male and maybe female) might be accused next (if you move out) and that this woman is the troublemaker. and they are going to have a nice little round-about of tenants in and out if they don't ask HER to move. Sounds like she needs to move back in with Daddy anyway.

I have to wonder the same thing, Enasni, I'm not convinced there was ever a stalker in the first place?

OP, do you have a contract of employment? I don't mean a written job offer, I mean a bona fide contract?

Well Manager knows she is a flake so I have her and everyone else here on my side. I realize all you have here is my side of the story and all I tried to do was put the facts out.
But no we have no contract and I guess it is a at will deal. Thats why I was wondering if they cost me my job and home with ** unproven accucations** if I have any recourse.
But thanks for the imput.. This just goes to show never help anyone who asks for help anymore.

You would not have any legal recourse against your employer. You MIGHT have some against the woman and her father.
