Need to get legal means to copyright from deceased brother.

I applied for the copyright to a book my brother wrote before he died.

The US Copyright Office letter says to "show how you acquired ownership of all the rights under the copyright. Examples are 'By will,' or 'By intestate succession,' (state inheritance laws)."

He didn't have a will, and I don't know how to show it by "intestate succession." Please help! I need to reply to them soon.

The rights belong to his estate. If you are the sole heir at law, and have a court order stating that, that's how you acquired them -- by intestate succession.

Courts were not involved

What is his estate? He didn't have anything to speak of. The courts were'nt involved. Should I try to file something to claim his "estate"?
