need to know how go about getting joint custody of my daughter

I am a 22 yr old mother of a soon to be 7 yr old, who is in custody of her father. He has been refusing to let me see her, although he allows my drunk mother to see her once a week. I call my child every night when possible, if not I talk to her at least 3-4 times aweek. I just need some advice on persueing this to where I can see her at least 2 days aweek, if there is anyone out there that can help me please respond. Thank you

Call the court house in the city or county where your child resides. Ask them what exactly you need to do in order to file for joint custody/ visitation. You may need his birth certificate and other documentation. They should help you out though. And make sure that you document everything. HAve you already gone for a custody hearing? You said that he has custody of your child. Is that through the courts? If so, why did you wait to file for visitation? Good Luck
