What is the name of your state? Virginia

Q: My son who recently turned 18 was terminated from his job at a grocery store: the reason sited by his employer is that he rang up a fellow employee giving him a discount totalling $17.10. At the time, of this incident, he was 17 years old. after applying for a job at a video store, he received a letter from the video store and ChoicePoint stating that this grocery store had submitted negative information about him in regards to the theft of $17.10. For that reason, the video store rejected his application. My son has never been summoms to court or convicted of a crime. What are his legal rights????? Is this slander???

Your son has no legal recourse; the employer violated no laws. It doesn't matter whether he was over 18 or under 18; the employer has the right to provide truthful information regardless of whether it is negative or not.
