I live in a second floor apartment with a woman living downstairs. She has been complaining over and over about the noise we make. She has sent her boyfriend to tell us to keep it down, and now she has complained to our apartment director in which I have been sent a letter. Her compaints are about us walking too hard (we do not even wear shoes in the house), about my dog running across the floor (he is a small dog under 20 pounds), and the fact is any noise coming from our apartment is between the hours of 5pm and 11pm. When I have company over she compains about that as well, even though it's before 10pm. She has told the director that I'm doing all this on purpose, and is now accusing me of hitting her boyfriends car and called the police. What rights do I have? I am completely considerate of my neighbors and have adjusted my life around pleasing her, but it's not working. It's to the point where I hate going home, and hate living there. Please offer any advice as to what I can do.

If the manager can not resolve the issues and both tenants can't get along, one tenant should move out.
