What is the name of your state? NY
Is it legal for my neighbor to videotape me without my knowledge or consent?

Maybe. Where is he taping? i.e. In your shower, through an open window, on the street in front of your house?

I believe it was probably from the street through the window. I don't really know because I haven't seen the tape. It's a long story that goes with this.

We are listening and you have plenty of typing space. What's the scoop? Nobody can answer unless we know what the particulars are.

as long as the person recording is on his property, you are to blame if he tapes you in your shower for example, with the curtain open.

in san diego, a judge dismissed charges against a male who, when hearing the downstairs neighbors shower turn on, would lower a handycam taped to a broomstick to tape her in the shower. the ruling is the 'victim' chose to leave her door and curtain open, and the 'cameraman' was not violating any trespassing laws.. think about it. if hes taping you and hes not in your house or property, then its your fault, unless of course, this person also put a gun to your head and forced you to keep your curtains and doors open.

and personally, we have this classmate nicknamed 'insane wayne' for various reasons; anyhow, he was turned in by his female neighbor for watching her shower from atop his own roof next door. he was exposed in the newspaper, etc.

problem is he commited no crime whatsoever. people in todays society have a real problem taking responsibility for their own adult actions. everyone wants to blame everything and everyone else for their mishaps.
